IT partners will hear about the “cloud first run model” from Andrew Winter, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Head of Channel and Alliances, ANZ Public Sector, at the CRN Pipeline conference on August 14.
Winter has been working with Australian IT partners to examine their current business models and what they can do to maximise cloud profitability.
“The most important thing we're trying to do is help partners understand a sustainable commercial model for cloud that provides a foundation for new revenue streams," he explains. “By deeply analysing partners' existing business models, AWS can identify key areas for optimisation and investment to drive cloud profitability,” he told CRN Australia.
A gap in understanding has limited some IT partners’ approach to providing cloud services, in Winter’s view.
One opportunity lies in partners taking a more proactive stance. Instead of reacting to customer requests, Winter envisions partners "building cloud practices proactively and capitalising their own businesses" around managed services, automation, and value-added solutions. This shift requires upfront investments, but positions partners as long term trusted cloud advisors.”
The AWS Marketplace provides a platform for partners to package software and services that develop new revenue streams. At Pipeline, Winter will speak about the latest enhancements that allow partners to integrate Marketplace into their own storefronts.
Another opportunity lies in partners harnessing generative AI to build differentiated cloud solutions and services. AWS is enabling partners to infuse generative AI capabilities into their offerings on the AWS Marketplace, driving innovation and creating new value propositions for customers. This allows partners to take a proactive stance by "building cloud practices around AI-powered managed services, automation, and value-added solutions," says Winter.
At CRN Pipeline, Winter will talk about “a roadmap for IT partners to maximise profitability in the cloud era and to show how we’re “cracking the code; and discuss what a potential profit model looks like.”
A significant proportion of surveyed IT partners planned to continue offering their cloud-migration-to-hyperscaler services “as is” in the next 12 months, Tech Research Asia found when conducting research for CRN Australia, to be presented at CRN Pipeline in August.
A significant proportion of CxOs in end user organisations planned to increase investment in managed cloud services in the next 12 months, Tech Research Asia also found.
Andrew Winter will take part in the session “The cloud profit model of the future” at CRN Pipeline on August 14. Amazon Web Services is the sponsor of the 2024 CRN Impact Awards, which will be presented at a gala awards dinner on August 15 at CRN Pipeline.
