Intel used the Computex computer trade show in Taiwan to stress the importance of mobilisation in its future roadmap.
Computex delegates gathered to hear Sean Maloney, executive vice president of Intel’s opening keynote at the event.
"We are using the impossibility small to chase infinite opportunities. We are moving ahead with new technology, which has a much better performance and tremendous energy efficiency.
"New technology leads us to an infinitely large opportunities and this centres around the Web. Our opportunity is to follow the mobilisation of the Web.”
Maloney then unveiled a surprise for the Computex delegates and brought onstage Martin Cooper, the inventor of the first mobile phone.
"When we invented the mobile phone we never finished the job,” said Cooper. “In the last 35 years we have proven that people want to be mobile. We freed people who were tied to their desk.”
Cooper said with the Internet people are still tied down, so the industry needs to finish the job and mobilise Internet access.
"We have talked about revolutions and to do this is to provide new opportunities, but you have to reach out to opportunities and not fear mistakes,” added Cooper.
Also at the show, Intel unveiled the Intel 3 Series Chipset family along with several other technology plans that surround the company's Intel Core 2 Duo and Quad processors for home and business PC users.
"There is a tremendous amount of excitement and anticipation for our forthcoming 45nm Hi-K processors based on the Intel Core microarchitecture," said Maloney. "The Intel 3 Series chipsets lay the foundation for an exciting, media-rich experience for today's systems and those that arrive later this year."
