CompTIA Community rebrands as GTIA

The Computing Technology Industry Association's membership arm unveiled its new identity as the Global Technology Industry Association (GTIA), marking a strategic shift to focus exclusively on IT channel organisations.

The change follows the sale of CompTIA's training and certification business, which will continue separately as a for-profit venture, under the CompTIA name.

"We are excited to begin a new chapter for our association," Tracy Pound, chair of the GTIA board of directors said.

"Now that we are singularly focused on the IT channel, we can deliver even more benefits for our members," Pound added.

The organisation represents tens of thousands of professionals from more than 2,000 managed service providers, solution providers, tech vendors and distributors globally.

The sale creates a substantial endowment to cover GTIA's operating costs indefinitely, ensuring membership dues remain affordable.

"Our new name better represents who we are and the members we serve—organisations that deliver the technology solutions that power the global economy," M J Shoer, chief community officer at GTIA said.

Kelly Ricker and Shoer will lead the non-profit as chief operating officer and chief community officer respectively while the board conducts a search for a new chief executive.

The organisation maintained its status as the only vendor-neutral, non-profit membership community representing the worldwide IT channel.

Popular industry events like ChannelCon will continue under the GTIA banner, with the endowment enabling increased charitable giving to technology education initiatives globally.
