Gerry Sillars, managing director A/NZ for CommVault said SAN Systems offers technical skills in the data management sector and its reseller base will help strengthen the vendor’s presence in the local market.
“SAN Systems is a natural choice for us since they complement our existing distribution partners,” he said. “This provides CommVault a way to extend its market reach so that more partners and customers can get access to products and services.”
Nick Verykios, marketing director for Distribution Central and SAN Systems said the deal benefits the distributor by providing a singular data management platform that includes back-up and recovery, archiving, and information management.
“CommVault is the only vendor that provides all these under a single application,” he said. “This is important for us because it allows for intelligence in backup and recovery to minimise time and reduce costs with overall efficiencies in all aspects of data management.”
The exclusive distribution arrangement mirrors an existing agreement between SAN Systems and Netapp. Verykios said that CommVault CommServ “talks” seamlessly to NetApp API, enabling users to perform data management on NetApp hardware.
“The two vendors don’t just have a “we are friends” relationship but are integrated at a technology level,” he said.
The advantage to channel partners is the ability to differentiate themselves in the market with a single point of supply for the data management requirements of their customers, said Verykios.
“A reseller can go to a customer with a single focus,” he said. “They can then migrate their customer to other elements of the CommVault solution platform to enhance other portions of the solution.”
SAN Systems will offer resellers CommVault training, accreditation and certification; direct contact with the vendor’s sales and pre-sales teams including specialised archive resources; and professional services support to assist with lab testing, shadow engagements and pass-through services.
“This is not a dump and run product,” said Verykios. “Resellers that are willing to do the training and get certified will find CommVault a lucrative vendor.”
Commenting on CommVault’s continued investment in its channel, Sillars added, “As CommVault’s channel program continues to evolve, channel partners are likely to see greater benefits from working with CommVault including improved sales, technical and marketing support.”
