Commvault appoints Gareth Russell as APAC field CTO for security

Data protection and cyber resilience vendor Commvault has appointed Gareth Russell to the new role of field CTO, security for Asia Pacific (APAC). 

Russell brings over 20 years' experience in cyber strategy, risk management, cyber resilience and digital transformation.

He joins Commvault after an over five-year stint at Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore, where he was most recently global head of identity, access management data protection 

Russell previously served in leadership positions at Accenture and the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads.

“I am excited to bring my experience to Commvault, especially at a time when cyber risks are intensifying in our region," Russell said.

"My focus will be on enhancing cyber resilience strategies including helping organisations across APAC strengthen their recovery capabilities. These days, when it comes to cyberattacks, it’s not a matter of if but when, and I look forward to working with enterprises to advance their cyber readiness and preparedness."

Commvault said Russell has a track record of helping organisations and governments across APAC define and manage their cyber risk postures, with experience in implementing, transforming and operating capabilities including embedding cyber security into organisational culture.
