Commvault has named Dan Kieran as its vice president and managing director for Australia and New Zealand.
It is understood that the role had been vacant for more than six months, since the departure of Bryan Stibbard who left the company last October to join Palo Alto Networks as national sales manager. Brett Chase, regional VP for Asia-Pacific and Japan, had assumed the role in the interim.
Kieran is not the first senior EMC figure to defect to Commvault this year: CRN reported in January that EMC's Mark Velthuis had been appointed as Commvault's new vice president of indirect business.
Commvault did not answer CRN's enquiries in time for publish.
Kieran spent almost five years at EMC, most recently as Isilon emerging technology senior director for Asia-Pacific. He has worked in IT for the past 24 years, according to LinkedIn, including roles at Sun Microsystems, Oracle, IBM and Xerox.
He started his career in Canada and held several roles during his ten years at Sun Microsystems. He became the Australian senior manager for partners and alliances at Sun Microsystems prior to moving to Oracle. At Oracle he worked as a senior director for storage solutions for almost two years.
