The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has awarded NTT Australia two IT contracts for the provision of software and hardware.
The former Dimension Data won a combined $21.5 million in contracts, comprising of a $5.6 million deal for software licensing and a $15.9 million deal for the “supply of computer hardware”.
BOM declined to provide specifics, with a spokesperson citing “operational and security reasons”.
“The Bureau of Meteorology has a significant program of work underway to continue improving its ICT security and resilience, in order to enhance the delivery [of] our services to the Australian community now and into the future,” the spokesperson told CRN.
The Bureau has recently also awarded Accenture a $31m contract for a new web platform, started to experiment with GPS signals as a forecasting tool and signed for $35m of services from NEXTDC.
Both of the NTT contracts commenced in November 2019 and run for three years until 2022.
