Deloitte Digital has acquired Brisbane-based IT web-management firm Digicon.

Digicon's team of 20 will be retained and led by Deloitte partner Kevin Russo.

"The Digicon team will join us as of the 1st of October," said Frank Farrall, lead partner of Deloitte Digital.

"We're establishing facilities around them. They will come in and become the Deloitte Digital Practice in Brisbane."

Farrall would not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

The acquisition gives Deloitte Digital a footprint in Queensland, which will help the company vie for local government contracts, Farrall told CRN. "We have a couple of opportunities that we're looking to close.

Deloitte is currently working on "three government contracts: two State and one Federal", he added.

Deloitte will leverage Digicon's Sitecore platform to deliver "a more agile and more customer-centric approach" to online content.

"We're seeing an explosion of demand for consumer-facing technology with a focus on multichannel and digital capabilities."

The move is part of the consultancy firm's aggressive strategy to grow in IT; it wants to become a US$1 billion digital agency within five years, according to Fairfax.

Farrall said Deloitte Digital was investigating new growth opportunities and potential acquisitions throughout Europe and the Asia Pacific.
