Datacom has hired IT industry veteran Bob Peebles to lead its software business in Australia.
Peebles will now take responsibility for the management and operations of Datacom's Australian software and integration business. He steps into the role previously held by Scott Bennett, who CRN understands has moved to an as yet unspecified ANZ role.
A Datacom spokesperson said the company was “delighted to be working with such an experienced IT leader and look forward to his positive influence in the Australian software division".
Peebles spent the past decade at Oakton, most recently as executive general manager. Dimension Data acquired Oakton in 2014.
Peebles was Oakton's ACT executive manager between 2013 and 2014 before stepping up as executive general manager in March 2014. During that time he was responsible for the direction of Oakton's activities in the ACT and the management responsibility for the firm’s 200 local employees. He was replaced as ACT executive general manager by David Mathews.
Earlier this month, CRN reported that Oakton’s parent company, Dimension Data, had written down its investment in the firm by $73 million a year after the acquisition.
