He said he will expand the company's Application Delivery Network infrastructure focusing on the education sector.

Owen said the company has already introduced a certified ADN program for partner resellers.

"Blue Coat has invested significantly in this program, which arms partners with the skills and knowledge to provide real long-term value to customers," he said.

"Alongside this program Blue Coat provides resellers with not-for-sale evaluation bundles that demonstrate the three technology pillars of ADN - visibility, optimisation and security."

Owen said he plans to strengthen the channel focus in the region, leading a team on channel strategy, operations and partner relationships.

"There will be increased focus on expanding potential growth areas, such as managed services, streaming media and data loss prevention," he said.

"Blue Coat is also investing in a range of cooperative events with partners and is proactive in making sure its partners are shown to be providing long-term value to customers. "

Prior to being named director of channels, Owen was responsible for the A/NZ southern region.

He joined Blue Coat through the acquisition of Packeteer where he was responsible for establishing Packeteer in Australia and New Zealand.

"Blue Coat has been growing consistently in A/NZ and a large part of our success is due to establishing an effective channel model and programs that deliver value to our partners," said Owen.

Wayne Neich, country manager Blue Coat A/NZ said Owen understands the channel market and has the knowledge and experience to create an effective channel strategy.
