Bitdefender launches external attack surface management solution
Andrei Florescu, Bitdefender.

Security vender Bitdefender has announced its GravityZone External Attack Surface Management solution, designed to give businesses and managed service providers (MSPs) comprehensive visibility into their internet-facing assets and associated vulnerabilities.

The agentless solution provides centralised discovery, monitoring, and management of expanding attack surfaces.

Bitdefender said attack surfaces, encompassing all potential entry points for adversaries, are rapidly expanding due to digital transformation, cloud adoption, remote work, and increased connectivity with third-party infrastructure.

Without centralised oversight, assets such as unused domains, misconfigured cloud instances, and expired certificates often go unnoticed. This leaves organisations vulnerable to attackers who continuously scan the internet for exposed systems.

Analyst firm Gartner's research indicates that through 2029, more than 60 per cent of security incidents will be traced to misconfigured technical security controls.

GravityZone External Attack Surface Management requires no endpoint deployment.

The solution continuously discovers, maps, and analyses internet-exposed assets from an attacker's perspective, enabling organisations to quickly assess risk, identify vulnerabilities, and take action before they are exploited.

GravityZone External Attack Surface Management is available as an add-on to Bitdefender GravityZone, the company's unified security, risk analytics, and compliance platform.

The solution scans a wide range of asset types, including IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, Internet Protocol blocks, email addresses, and domains.

"Security teams across businesses and managed service providers face increasing pressure to keep pace with expanding attack surfaces, driven by digital transformation and complex third-party ecosystems," Andrei Florescu, general manager of Bitdefender Business Solutions Group, said.
