Barracuda has launched Entra ID Backup Premium, designed to protect Microsoft Entra ID environments from data loss caused by cyberattacks and human error.

The product offers long-term backup for identity protection capabilities that extend well beyond Microsoft's standard 30-day data retention period, Barracuda said.

Microsoft recommends third-party backup solutions for organisations requiring extended data preservation, which has created a market demand for specialised identity protection tools.

Barracuda Entra ID Backup Premium integrates with the company's existing BarracudaONE platform, providing centralised visibility into backup status and data health through a unified dashboard.

"Identity is the control plane of today's digital business – any disruption can halt operations and expose organisations to security risks," Neal Bradbury, chief product officer of Barracuda, said.

"With Entra ID Backup Premium, we are closing a critical gap in the identity protection lifecycle by adding fast, reliable recovery to our proven detection and response capabilities."

The product protects 13 essential identity components required to maintain secure Microsoft Entra ID environments, including users, groups, roles, administrative units and app registrations.

Additional protected elements encompass audit logs, authentication policies, access controls, BitLocker keys and device management configurations.
