Cloud security vendor Barracuda has launched its Barracuda MSP business in Australia and New Zealand to support its MSP partners in the region.

The company also appointed a local team spread out across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to run the business, with some support staff from Barracuda’s APAC office in Hong Kong.

Barracuda launched its MSP business in 2015 to provide support services to its channel partners, with offerings like email and network security, cloud-generation firewalls, data protection, remote monitoring, security awareness training and business and technology management.

Along with the MSP launch, Barracuda also released a product called "Managed Workplace 12", a remote monitoring and management solution it acquired from Avast February 2019.

In the announcement issued overnight, CEO of Melbourne-based Barracuda partner Qbox Guy Yunghanns said the company is “excited about the focus MSPs have been given recently” and expects to see a stronger relationship with the vendor.

“Having worked with Barracuda over the past two years, we’d certainly recommend them as a partner,” Yunghanns said.

“We’re focused on providing our clients with real value as a part of our IT stack and being vendor agnostic. Barracuda products like email archiving and Sentinel suit our business model perfectly and so we’ve continued to use them for our clients.”

Barracuda director of International MSP Business Jason Howells told CRN the business had been running an international team since 2016 and that it has had “some significant success” and “exceeded all expectations”.

“The expansion of the team into Australia and New Zealand was the next step in our journey, and we already got around 60 partners that are active with us,” Howells said.

“We felt it was extremely important to have a dedicated managed service provider resource from Barracuda in-region, making sure we help managed service providers to be successful with the solutions we have.”

Barracuda ANZ regional sales director Andrew Huntley said Australia and New Zealand are “very important markets” for Barracuda.

“The introduction of our MSP business is an exciting chapter for us, opening new doors to broaden our reach with the local market,” he said.

“We’re committed to working with our MSP partners in the best possible way so they can offer their customers advanced protection against data loss and IT security breaches.”
