US-based KVM switch vendor, Avocent has opened its first office in Sydney following its acquisition of Cyclades.
NASDAQ-listed Avocent acquired Cyclades a US privately-held data centre management company in March for US$90m.
Leanne Ramsay managing director (MD) A/NZ Avocent and former Cyclades MD said with the integration of the two hardware companies completed, it was now time to combine its different channel strategies for the Australian market.
Avocent has supplied its range of switching, intelligent platform management interface, remote access and video display products through distribution partners Blue Ridge Networks, Comsol, Dueltek, MPA Systems and Tecksel, said Ramsay.
However, Cyclades - which has had a Sydney office since 2002 - sold its range of data centre management appliances direct to resellers.
Avocent was still determining how it would deal with channel partners, Ramsay said. “We are now in the process of creating a ‘go-to-market’ strategy for our channel partners. It should be out by sometime in July,” she said.
Through the acquisition, Avocent integrated its six local staff with Cyclades’, taking the total number of employees to 12.
Ramsey said there will be potential for growing the number of employees, when it looks at “providing services strategy further down the track”.
The combined team will operate under the Avocent banner out of Cyclades’ Baulkham Hills office, she said.
Some Avocent resellers included ICP Global, Syndeticom, TLC Data Systems, Zubiq, BCA IT, Data #3, Dell, Dimension Data, HP Services, IBM, Volante and ASI.
