According to Colin MacKenzie, chief executive officer of Seccom Networks, the company has been concentrating on the research and development of its products and has only recently sought to expand internationally.
“Australia has been an excellent launching pad for our business. We have spent considerable time and money in establishing our core technologies and products and we have reached a point where we can leverage our capabilities into a larger market,” he said.
Seccom Global will leverage the Seccom Networks brand and has appointed a board of security and business experts to drive the strategic and commercial objectives, stated MacKenzie. He also commented that the company’s priority was to recruit US-based partners that not only possessed the necessary capabilities, but were also a strategic fit with the local team.
The most notable appointment was Richard Stiennon as chief executive officer of Seccom Global. A stakeholder of Seccom Networks, his experience includes stints with Netrex, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Webroot Software and Fortinet. However, he is perhaps best known for being a controversial Gartner analyst who shook up the IDS world by declaring the technology ineffective.
“We are not establishing a new business from scratch; we are using a proven model with proven business systems and proven products and services. Security management is all about trust and that’s why we know Seccom Networks will give us a flying start in the USA,” said Stiennon.
Seccom Networks provides MSSP products to offices throughout Australasia and Europe. When the company set its sights on the US market, the competitive climate was cause for concern for the service provider.
“Recognising the extent of competition we have entered the US market cautiously. We have taken time to find the right partner and we now believe we have the right mix of people, resources and technology to make a significant impact on the market,” said MacKenzie.
