Aussie Dropbox presence goes live in AWS

Dropbox has officially launched its Australian presence with its local environment within the AWS Sydney Region going live for all Dropbox Business customers.

The launch was announced at its Dropbox Connect event in Sydney, hosted by members of the global Dropbox C-Suite.

“Today, we’re making good on one of our customers’ most consistent requests - to access and store their Dropbox files securely in Australia,” Dropbox ANZ country manager Dean Swan said.

“Over the past few months we’ve been rigorously testing the environment with a number of beta customers and we’re thrilled to be able to make it available earlier than expected.

“We look forward to servicing the data sovereignty needs of our customers in Australia and New Zealand.”

The cloud storage vendor first revealed its plans in March, moving away from “point of presence” operations to a proper local presence.

Swan at the time said it was the most consistent request from customers, and that setting up a local presence was a “sign to the market” that Dropbox is “a mature and serious SaaS player” servicing the collaboration needs of Australian organisations of all sizes.
