ASX-listed Atturra has announced it will expand its sovereign cloud capabilities through a new deployment in NEXTDC's S3 datacentre, located in Artarmon, Sydney.

The expansion aims to meet growing client demand for domestically located cloud compute and storage capacity, as well as support increasing needs for AI-as-a-Service workloads across Australia.

"Increasing numbers of our clients are coming to realise that not all compute workloads are suited to the platforms provided by cloud hyperscalers," Chris McLaughlin, executive general manager of managed services at Atturra, said.

"They appreciate the performance, scalability, and resilience that we can provide for both cloud-based and hybrid infrastructures," McLaughlin added.

The deployment in NEXTDC's S3 datacentre will begin in August and is expected to be completed by December.

It will feature a composable compute platform providing fluid resources for up to 36 servers and 400 terabytes of storage, with multiple high-speed network connections ensuring optimal performance and full redundancy.

The new private cloud capacity will host various workloads for Atturra clients, including Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) deployments.

Object storage, firewalls, and Backup-as-a-service (BaaS) will also be offered.

McLaughlin said the new capability is currently being certified as part of Atturra's company-wide ISO27001 certification to ensure client data remains protected and secure.

For Atturra, the expansion will support additional growth and allow increased competition with other private-cloud providers.

Clients will benefit from faster provisioning times and the ability to connect to other Atturra services, including recently announced AI-powered services in conjunction with HPE and Nuix.

Atturra plans to expand its footprint within the NEXTDC S3 datacentre in the future, with options on additional server racks.

"We will have the ability to double our capacity in this location," McLaughlin said.

"This will allow us to meet the growing needs of our clients, which will be fuelled by increasing business use of AI, well into the future," he added.
