AOL online division it launched a free anti-virus program for online users, providing real-time scanning and hourly updates.
The new software, called Active Virus Shield, is powered by Kaspersky Lab an internet security solutions provider, AOL said in a news release.
AOL will also allow Internet Explorer users to install a free security toolbar when they download the software, it said.
