Kevin Hartin, Altech’s marking manager, said Altech opened an international office in Hong Kong, after being told by vendors that they were under represented in the region.
“Unlike many overseas based companies in Hong Kong, we have set up a full blown operation with sales, technical, purchasing and a warehouse – with a total number of nine staff,” he said.
According to Hartin, the opening of the Hong Kong office opens up a number of opportunities. “Our smaller offices in Perth and Auckland will eventually benefit from consolidated shipments direct from Hong Kong.”
He claimed the distributor expects to be able to increase product availability and reduce incoming freight costs on key products in those regions. “This will flow through to benefit our resellers,” said Hartin.
Founded in 1997, Altech expanded from its Brisbane origins to Sydney and now has offices across Australia. In 2008 the company opened an office in Auckland, New Zealand and can now add Hong Kong a branch office.
