Acer has unveiled a netbook designed to stand out from the crowd, carrying a Ferrari badge and based on AMD's second-generation ultra-thin platform.
The new Ferrari One laptop comes in racing red livery emblazoned with the Ferrari logo, and is styled by Acer as "the world’s most exclusive netbook".
It costs a bit more than most netbooks, starting at £399, and with an 11.6in high-definition 1366x768 display, the Ferrari One is also a little larger than the 10in display size that is almost the hallmark of other netbook models.
As it ships with Windows 7 Home Premium, it will also not be available until the official Windows 7 launch on 22 October, so would-be Jeremy Clarksons will have to wait until then.
The Ferrari One is one of the first laptops based on AMD's recently announced ultra-thin platform, and meets the firm's Vision branding requirements with a 1.2GHz Athlon X2 L310 dual-core processor, 2GB of DDR2 memory upgradeable to 4GB, and 160GB or larger hard drive.
Communication options include 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and some models will also feature a built-in 3G HSPA modem for wireless connectivity from almost anywhere.
According to Acer, the Ferrari One combines powerful performance and extreme portability with excellence of design.
Other details include a Ferrari-engraved touchpad with multi-gesture functionality and speakers driven by Dolby Home Theatre v3 surround sound.
