Accenture buys Sydney-based consultancy firm

Accenture has acquire Sydney-based consultancy firm 2nd Road.

The acquisition will allow Accenture's consulting arm, Accenture Strategy, to provide services around strategy, innovation and organisational systems.

2nd Road was founded in 2002 and has 22 employees including strategists, designers and educators.

The terms of the transaction were not been disclosed.

Luca Martini, managing director at Accenture Strategy in Australia, said: "Combining Accenture Strategy’s global capabilities and deep expertise at the intersection of business and technology, with 2nd Road’s innovation and design thinking powered approach to strategy, will help our clients get ahead of the transformation journey and gain competitive edge."

According to Accenture, 2nd Road has built a toolkit that allows creative thinking to be turned into accessible methodologies.

2nd Road chief executive Tony Golsby-Smith said the acquisition will help 2nd Road to take its approach to more organisations at the same time it serves its clients in new ways and provides more end-to-end solutions.

"I founded 2nd Road because I saw rising demand for something fresh and different to conventional management practices, and I knew that by bringing together the power of analytics and creative thinking, I could fill a gap in the market," he said.

Accenture Strategy group chief executive Mark Knickrehm said: "Business leaders in all industries are facing unprecedented levels of disruption and technology transformation, which is driving a sense of urgency to do things differently."

"The acquisition of 2nd Road boosts our ability to use innovation to co-create the future state for our clients and design the strategies that will drive real change for them."

In August, Accenture acquired Melbourne-based Oracle partner Redcore, which specialises in identity and access management services. Accenture also acquired Cloud Sherpas, a fast-growing cloud solutions provider headquartered in the US.

Consultancy rival Deloitte has been on an acquisition tear of its own in the past couple of years. The most recent acquisition was last month when Deloitte bought Melbourne-based firm Plenary Networks.

Deloitte has acquired two Oracle partners, Dataweave and Qubit Consulting, both in 2015. Since 2014 Deloitte has acquired several companies.
