A USB flash drive with a difference

Verbatim has released its new Store ‘n’ Go OTG USB Drive. It is designed for OTG-enabled portable devices such as smartphones and tablets.

OTG is an extension of the USB specification that supports direct connections and communications between OTG-enabled devices when a PC is not available.

The Store ‘n’ Go OTG USB Drive looks like a regular USB flash drive but has a USB 3.0 connector at one end and a microUSB plug at the other. This means it can be used for cable-free data transfers between smartphones, PCs and tablets.

Verbatim's press release states it has tested the Store ‘n’ Go OTG USB Drive with many OTG-compliant smartphones and tablets. Compatible models include Samsung Galaxy Note I & II, Samsung Galaxy R, S2, S3, S4, Sony Xperia TX, S, Z, HTC One, HTC X, Butterfly and Butterfly S smartphones. An up-to-date compatibility list can be downloaded here.

There are 16GB and 32GB capacity models. Recommended retail prices are $24.95 and $39.95 respectively.
