3Com inks deal with 24/7 Distribution
The contract is for the distribution of the complete range of 3Com products and 3Com will access 24/7 Distribution’s new technology centre based in North Ryde, due to launch in December.

24/7 Distribution invests in technical resources, facilities and specialist skills in unified communications.

It provides customer support through pre-sales consulting, scoping and advice and end user and channel partner on-site demonstrations.

The campus will include a ‘3Com Technology Centre’ to showcase 3Com’s offerings, as well as a demonstration lab and training facilities for its channel and end-users.

“We see this as a huge opportunity for our organisation to expand its footprint into the Australia marketplace,"said Grant Howe local country manager 3Com.

"24/7 Distribution has a different customer base to ours and we think it will energise our general strategy and chase a significant amount of enterprise leads,” he said.

According to Howe, 3Com spent the last six months looking at its go-to-market strategy including its distribution.

“Part of that process was to identify the right distributor and if not, who to look out for. Ingram Micro is our distributor but we wanted to augment that relationship with an end user focused distributor which offers us a wider spectrum of services capability,” he added.

He said Ingram will remain with 3Com.

“We still have a strong relationship with them but now we have two distributors. We see it as a nice balance. 24/7 are value added distributors. They supplement the business, they provide a service to their business partners to enable them to deliver to the market.

“We saw them as a strong fit as our products are extensive by nature and they require more technical expertise,” said Howe.

The Technology Centre will be launched on 1st December.
