The Portege's magnesium alloy chassis gives it a distinctive gunmetal gray colour.
The Portege R700 uses a 13.3in LCD screen.
It is pretty hard to believe that this thin and light package actually has an Intel Core i5 processor inside.
One limitation with the R700 is a limited number of expansion ports. On the left hand side there is VGA, HDMI, eSATA and a sole USB 2.0 port.
On the right hand side there is an integrated DVD SuperMulti Drive as well as this different looking SD card slot.
ALso on the right hand side are an audio input and output, a second USB 2.0 port and Ethernet.
Toshiba has gone with a 'chiclet' keyboard for the R700.
The touchpad on the R700 is quite large for the form factor. It includes distinct left and right buttons, a fingerprint reader and a button to turn the entire touchpad off.
In order to keep the R700 thin Toshiba had gone for this hinge design on the lid. This does have the downside of restricting the number of expansion ports that Toshiba can place on the chassis.
The bundle itself is fairly minimal - laptop, power supply and manuals/recovery disc.
