Photos: AMD's A8-3500 desktop APU and Gigabyte's A75M-UD2H
A few days ago we received our first desktop Fusion board, which finally gave us a chance to show off the A8 APU that we snuck back from Computex. You'll need to wait for performance results, but take a look at the APU in its new home.
Gigabyte's A75M-UD2H is the kind of mainstream motherboard that the A series APU will be perfect for, small form factor and enough expandability to make an excellent media box for example.
The actual APU looks a little underwhelming, with the heatspreader design first introduced by AMD with the Athlon 64.
Unlike Intel's pinless processors AMD is persisting with pins on the CPU and a normal socket. In this case there is a small gap in the center, and offset smaller pinless spots.
Unlike Intel's chipsets the A75 comes with full SATA 6Gbps support as well as built-in USB 3.
The four usual output subjects are also found on the board, allowing for D-Sub, DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort connections
