Adams returns to take
up Avnet’s GM post
Avnet Australia has announced a new boss following the departure of industry stalwart Laurie Sellers in September. Avnet’s US Cisco general manager Darren Adams will return home in late January to take on the role of vice president and general manager for Avnet Technology Solutions across A/NZ.
Adams has served in the US role since 2008. He first joined Avnet in 2002 as a regional sales leader locally. Avnet marketing vice president Michael Costigan told CRN Adams had been chosen due to his “outstanding” success as head of Cisco for Avnet US.
Elsewhere at Avnet, RSA sales boss Paul Oxley has been recruited to the post of networking business unit director. A 15-year industry veteran, he joined the Avnet team via the Channel Worx acquisition in 2007, after which he pursued various senior executive roles within the IT industry (most recently, as the channel sales manager of RSA, the security division of EMC).
