Lenovo updates education laptop range for Windows and Chrome

Lenovo is launching a range of education-focused range of laptops and a new touchscreen monitor, slated for release in July.

The new laptops are all available as either Windows or Chrome devices as designated by a ‘w’ or ‘e’ after the model number.

All models meet the independent MIL-SPEC 801H standard for durability as well as Lenovo’s own education specifications call for reinforced ports and hinges, with rubber bumpers to protect from accidental drops. 

Spill resistance has been improved by nearly ten percent and select models include Corning Gorilla Glass for the screen.

The new designs all also feature a 720p front-facing camera and a physical webcam shutter.

The Chrome models are finished in grey and the Windows ones in blue.

No ANZ pricing is available yet.

Lenovo 14w/14e gen 2

The 14e is powered by the AMD for Chromebook processor, while its Window’s brother includes the 1.2GHz AMD 3015e dual-core. 

The 57W battery in both provide up to 10 hours of use between charges, they both include up to 8GB DDR4 RAM, and both weigh in at 1.45kg.

For storage, the Windows device comes with either up to 128GB eMMC or 256GB M.2 SSD and the Chromebook up to 64GB eMMC.

They each have a 2 x USB 3.1 ports, 1 x USB C and HDMI ports, and a 3.5mm in/output.

The 14” display choices are all an HD non-touch (220 nits), or an FHD that comes in touch (300 nits) or non-touch (250 nits).

Lenovo 100w/100e gen 3

Although there is no ANZ pricing available, the non-touch 11.6” HD display 100 models are the lowest priced on the US store.

They include the same AMD processors as the 14, the AMD for Chromebook processor and the 3015e dual-core.

They both include 4GB DDR RAM. The 100w comes with up to 128GB SSD storage while the 100e has 32GB eMMC.

They weigh in at 1.25kg. Both are quick charge compatible and have up to10 hours of use in one charge.

They each come with the same port set up as the 14 models, plus a microSD card reader.

Lenovo 300w/300e gen 3

The 300 models are also 11.6”, though they are touchscreen devices fitted with Corning Gorilla Glass. 

No change in processors or RAM from the 100 models, but the 300e does go up to 32GB eMMC storage. No change for the 300w.

The 300 models add Bluetooth 5.1, and options to add 4G/LTE connectivity, a 5MP world-facing camera and a garaged USI pen.

Weight is only slightly up on the 100 models at 1.3kg.

Lenovo 500w/500e gen 3

The highest spec offerings among the new devices, the 500w includes up to an Intel Pentium processor and the 500e an Intel Celeron. They also include up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM.

Other than that, they include all the same features as the 300 model with the same screen and weight.

ThinkVision touchscreen monitor

The ThinkVision T24t offers touch capability with up to 2,880 sensors on its 23.8-inch display. 

It connects to Windows, Chromebook and Android devices via USB Type-C for docking and powering the device up to 75W.
