Samsung was the first vendor to announce a smartphone running Windows Phone 8, all the way back in August. The Ativ S is one of several new products to arrive under the Ativ banner.
It's different to its counterparts in that it has a raised Windows, or home, button.
It's grey and curved in design. It will be available in early December through Optus exclusively, and will also be available to purchase outright from Samsung’s experience centre and major retailers for $799, including Harvey Norman which is currently offering pre-orders for the phone.
It's got a 4.8in HD Super AMOLED display, 1.5Ghz dual-core processor, 1GB of onboard RAM, and an 8MP autofocus rear camera and 1.9MP front-facing camera. Storage capacities are 16GB or 32GB.
Next up is HTC's two offerings. The flagship 8X (pictured) is being touted as the signature smartphone for Windows 8.
The 8X is clad in a polycarbonate shell with a 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 Super LCD screen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, NFC, and front and rear cameras, the latter of which is 8MP. It's also 4G.
Also arriving is the lower-end sister 8S (left). It's body is plastic rather than polycarbonate. It has a 4in WVGA screen and Corning Gorilla Glass, a dual-core 1GHz chip, 512MB of RAM, a 5MP camera with 720p HD video on the back but no camera on the front, and 4GB of built-in storage with the able to boost to 32GB via the microSD slot.
And then there's the Lumias. There's been much hype around these phones, as Nokia's last stand in the smartphone market.
The Lumia 920 is Nokia's flagship. The selling point of the 920 is its rounded edges and colourful design, as well wireless charging and PureView imaging technology.
Alongside the 920 is the lower-end 820. It's similar in design, but you can change the case and therefore the colour of the 820, unlike the 920.
The 920 will be available in black, white, red and yellow from Telstra, and also in grey from major retailers. The 820 will be available in the same four colours from Vodafone, and later Optus and major retailers in November.
The wireless charging pad is one of many accessories Nokia will be selling with the Lumia 920.
Matching headphones are part of the package.
