On the last day of Microsoft's annual TechEd developer conference, members of the media were invited to get their hands dirty with Office 2013 Preview running on a Windows 8 tablet. Designed with touch-functionality in mind, the new software suite combines Office's familiar 'ribbon' interface with the tiled UI of Windows 8 (formerly known as 'Metro'). The software was running on an 11.6in Samsung Series 7 Slate PC with a wireless keyboard. This allowed users to try out the software in both tablet and 'desktop' mode. The Office 2013 Preview has been available since July, but this was the first time we got to try it out on a proper Windows 8 tablet.
