Apple today ended months of speculation by unveiling the much-reported iPad mini. The new tablet is a 7.9in slate which is "23 percent thinner and 53 percent lighter than the third-generation iPad". It's the company's first push into the smaller tablet market, currently dominated by Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire HD.
