Founded in Australia in 2009, BuildingIQ is emerging as a leading, differentiated cloud- based energy management software company with a mission to redefine the way HVAC energy is managed in commercial and institutional buildings. The company has developed software to intelligently assess and predictably and automatically optimize energy use, which is provided on a subscription basis and is capable of deployment within existing buildings with minimal additional capital investment. BuildingIQ's solution is not a building energy management system (BEMS), but an integration and optimization layer that draws real-time data from a BEMS along with other data sources, such as external weather, building utilization data, demand response and other utility information. It then uses those data sources to predict the necessary heating and cooling requirements for a building and execute on those automatically in real time. A machine-learning algorithm performs continuous thermal modeling and adapts to changing conditions and occupant needs. The building energy model is monitored by a remote-control center provided as part of the subscription service.
