Cutting edge tech from ASUS at Computex

Innovative concept products developed with the likes of Bang and Olufsen and Lamborghini.

This is the touchscreen version of ASUS' ET2400 All-in-one system. It comes with either a Core i5-650 or a Core i3 540m CPU. Graphics are supplied by an NVIDIA GeForce 310M and it comes with a Blu-Ray drive for home entertainment needs.

Another version of the ET2400 All-in-one. This was announced during NVIDIA's pre-Computex press conference, and stands out because it has an inbuilt transmitter for NVIDIA's 3D Vision technology.

This is the ASUS EEE Tablet. It is an e-ink based ebook reader, one of a range of more single focused products that sits alongside the iPad-like EEE Pad tablets.

The higher end EEE Pad, shown here with a stand and bluetooth keyboard. These were by far the most popular items at ASUS' stand and were hidden away under solid glass cases.

The fingerprint smeared case shows just how many people were clamouring for a look at the EEE Pad. This model was actually powered up and running, although it was kept out of the public's hands.

ASUS had a wide range of netbooks on display. These are part of a special collection made by the designer Karim Rashid. APart from that they are pretty standard netbooks, using an Atom N450 processor. With such strict netbook hardware guideline laid down by Microsoft, such designer lines provide a chance to distinguish the product from the crowd.

This EEE PC has the same 10in screen as most netbooks, but packs very different hardware. It is based upon AMD's Nile platform, using a V105 processor with an embedded RADEON HD 4200 graphics chip. It is also one of many netbook models that feature USB 3.0.

The 1016PG has inbuilt 3G, and uses the new Pineview Atom N455 CPU from Intel.

The 1018P also uses the Atom N455 (or n475). The ultra-thin Aluminium netbook distinguishes itself by packing not only USB 3.0 but also the newly ratified Bluetooth 3 standard.

This is ASUS' 12in netbook, using an Atom N450 and NVIDIA's ION graphics chip. ION enables better graphics and video playback, and even lets ASUS add a HDMI port to the netbook for output to proper displays.

The 1201PNG uses NVIDIA's ION2 graphics, and comes with a range of connectivity options. It has embedded 3G alongside WiFi and Bluetooth.

ASUS is taking on Acer's Ferrari products through a deal with Lamborghini. We had huge problems photographing this netbook sized model, with a crowd of people clamouring over it's sleek white chassis.

This enormous desktop replacement is the other product of the Lamborghini partnership. It uses a GeForce GTX 480M graphics chip foas part of its performance focused design. We would assume its battery life is on par with the super-car's fuel consumption, but who cares, it looks like a freakin Lamborghini!

The N61 is one of ASUS' existing laptop models, the first to use NVIDIA's Optimus technology. This white model is quite different in looks to the grey design that we are familiar with.

This shiny behemoth is the product of ASUS' collaborating with Bang and Olufsen. Called the NX90, this laptop is designed for entertainment, with the massive speakers on the side, a GeForce GT 335M graphics chip, Blu-ray drive and a Core i5 or i7 processor. The front of the laptop is made from the kind of shiny metal that attracts fingerprints like nothing we have seen before.

The EEE keyboard is not new, but still kind of cool. It uses an Atom processor, SSD and wireless display technology in order to deliver video without the need for a full sized PC.

ASUS was also showing off its high end PC components. This Ares video card will be made in limited numbers and is actually two RADEON 5870 GPUs on a single graphics card (the dual GPU 5970 is actually two RADEON 5850 cards). In this system ATI was running two of the Ares cards in a four-way crossfire configuration.

The Immensity motherboard is a concept product developed by ASUS' R&D department. It is an Intel motherboard with a RADEON GPU attached to the motherboard itself. It uses a Lucid chip in order to allow this onboard GPU to work with discreet graphics cards, meaning that any video card paired with this board will have its performance boosted by the onboard GPU.
