What VDI do you deploy?
Citrix.
When did your company first get involved in VDI?
We have been deploying VDI solutions for three-and-a-half years.
What credentials do you bring to VDI?
We are a Citrix Gold partner, and our storage and infrastructure partnerships and expertise with Nimble, EMC and Nutanix are also essential components of successfully deploying VDI solutions.
Who are your main distributors or suppliers for VDI?
Express Data (now Dicker Data) for Citrix licensing, Whitegold for Nutanix and Nimble direct.
Tell us about some cool VDI technology
Two of the most game-changing technologies for VDI are the nVidia Grid GPUs and the new RAM cache release from Citrix. nVidia’s technology means that clients can virtualise graphics-intensive CAD/CAM and 3D applications. Citrix’s RAM cache removes one of the biggest constraints for clients in deploying: the cost of the high-end storage systems required to service the random I/O load created by VDI.
Can you tell us about a recent VDI deployment you have done?
Our recent deployment with Hassell was just published on CRN. This included the nVidia GRID cards, Citrix 7.1 Xendesktop as well as the Panzura cloud gateways (leveraging AWS S3 storage) for collaboration across Australia and Asia.
What is driving customers towards VDI?
BYOD, centralisation of data, mobility, security, cost reductions and ease of management benefits.
VDI is…?
One of the few IT solutions that delivers tangible benefits to IT operations as well as end users.
