Fujitsu bosses get stuck int
o the sake

Australians have long believed that any occasion is a good occasion for a drink, but it took the opening of a whole Product Integration Support Centre to convince Fujitsu CEO Rod Vawdrey to crack open a tinnie. Or should that be a sake barrel.

Joined by consul general of Japan, Tsukasa Kawada, NSW deputy premier, John Watkins, and Fujitsu corporate VP, Kyung-Soo Ahn, Vawdrey lead the way in a traditional Japanese sake ceremony to officially open the facility.

According to sake brewer, Sun Masamune, the breaking open of a Taru (sake barrel) lid with a hammer during the ceremony signifies a new beginning. The splashing forth of the sake during the event, also known as Kagami Biraki, reputedly brings good luck and blessings to all at the occasion. We’re sure Fujitsu won’t need it.

Morgan chews the 'Apple Core'

AppleCentre Taylor Square director, Ben Morgan, is to move into the journo game with a new website initiative.

Long an outspoken personality within the Apple reseller community, Morgan will have a dedicated vessel for his views on the soon-to-be-launched Morgan Report.

The opinions and news blog will offer customers and other resellers his take on the market and the business practices of Apple Computer.

The initiative will complement a wider new RSS news feed and product reviews content also planned for Taylor Square’s home page.

According to Morgan, the move is designed to raise the overall level of awareness about Apple in the wider community. "I’m not going to give competitive advice to the channel about how to run their business," he said. "It’ll be more about providing news on what’s going on in the channel and the wider retail business in general."
