RnD Computer Solutions
Royce Ellery
We repair computers of all kinds – desktops, laptops, Macs, screens – and minor repairs on smartphones, iPads and tablets. Even the occasional PlayStation and Xbox. My son Duane is now working with me. He does most of the computers, I do most of the phones and tablets.
We very seldom charge by the hour – we charge by the job, which suits a lot of people. We try not to turn anything away. We had a guy come in last night with a MacBook with an exploded battery. I’d never seen a battery explode like that.
We’ve been fiddling around computers from the age of Commodore VIC-20s. I’m semi-retired, but we’ve been in the game for over 20 years and as RnD Solutions for almost 11 years.
We’ve got a very good location on a large roundabout with a workshop under the house in a converted garage, and that was designed with this business in mind. We’ve got most procedures fairly well automated, giving us quick turnaround times and we also do a few new sales as well.

Codas
Brett Wilson
I spent all my life in electronics, radio communications and automation for the mining industry, then in 2006 that business was sold. I had a few job offers, but my wife and I wanted to stay here in Ulverstone [just west of Devonport] and started Codas. We’d identified a bit of a gap, because it wasn’t the easiest thing to get computers replaced or fixed here. That was 2007 and we’ve been going strong ever since.
We run a retail repair service, along with warranty repairs for Apple, Toshiba and others. We also have several managed services and business consulting offers, and some specialist work, which is a throwback to the mining side. Consulting is taking a bigger part of our lives and for the past four years we have been a member of the Apple consultants’ network.
We’ve had the Ulverstone market to ourselves and we have a store in Devonport. We cover the whole of the north-west coast, as well as some state-wide, mainland and overseas work.

Neveco Business IT Solutions
Jason Watts
Stuart Green started Neveco Business IT Solutions in July 2007, with the direction to support local businesses, and ran it on his own. October 2012 was when I joined, which also coincided with the move to our current office space in William Street.
We provide professional ICT services throughout Tasmania, supporting businesses with consulting, design, implementation, management and support of their information technology and communications infrastructure. The business has developed a substantial client base and reputation for providing reliable, helpful, consistent and timely service.
We’re a boutique-sized ICT firm, yet our business offers more than 64 years of combined industry experience.
