Public cloud partnering: DiUS
Joe Losinno, DiUS

We speak with Joe Losinno, co-founder and director, DiUS.

What public cloud brands and attached services do you specialise in?

DiUS has been an AWS partner for six years. We typically leverage AWS to build new end-to-end digital solutions; replatform digital products; build a DevOps, CI/CD and automated infrastructure capability; build a POC or validate a product concept and move it to a scalable digital product.

When did your company first get involved in this area?

DiUS first signed with AWS in 2007, starting out using Amazon S3. In the early days we used AWS for development and test, as it was a great way to explore and create agility with
a non-production workload. Today we build everything to be cloud-native from the start.

What are your credentials in this area?

We are an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner and were recently named AWS Consulting Partner of the Year 2016. While we place a premium on real-world experience, our consultants have relevant AWS accreditations: Solution Architect, Developer and DevOps.

Have you heard about any cool developments recently?

Serverless computing is one of the most interesting. It has the potential to improve dramatically the speed and efficiency of developing and delivering applications that suit the serverless model. In addition, we’re excited to see the adoption of AI and machine learning services being offered by Google and Azure.

Can you tell us about a recent deployment you have done?

We partnered with MYOB to prototype and build a next-generation data platform-as-a-service, building a data lake supported by an underlying Lambda-based serverless architecture. The team developed a data processing pipeline to build
on the company’s enhanced data science capabilities, as well as an initial data mart to provide analysts with the ability to use their preferred data-analytics tools and services.

What is driving customers’ public cloud projects?

We’ve recently seen a real shift in the market and now we’re seeing companies look beyond just cost-savings and more towards how they can leverage cloud technologies to gain competitive advantage. Getting to market faster, testing new market scenarios sooner and deploying changes daily are some of the key drivers.

Public cloud is…?

A critical enabler. It’s making it cheaper and easier than ever before for startups and companies to generate business efficiencies, test and launch new products to market and generally get things up and running fast.
