Imaging giant Canon has named Takanobu Nakamasu as managing director of the Oceania division. Nakamasu replaces Kenji Kobayashi, who was managing director for almost three years and takes up a new assignment in the Canon Group as managing director of Canon France.
Nakamasu will lead the company’s short and longer term strategic direction and moves into his new role from a group executive position at Canon Inc in Tokyo. He brings with him rich experience of Canon Europe, where he spent more than 20 years of his 30-year tenure with the Canon Group.
“I’m joining Canon Oceania at an exciting time in its history,” Nakamasu said. “I look forward to leading the organisation as we continue our transformation to a full services and solutions provider
in business imaging and continue to add value for our consumers, not only at the time of purchase, but throughout the life of their product.”
Canon Oceania companies include Canon Australia, Canon New Zealand, Canon Finance Australia, Canon Finance New Zealand
and Lamberts. In his new role Nakamasu will oversee more than 1200 employees in Australia and New Zealand. He is based in the Sydney office in North Ryde and officially took on the new role on 11 April. Nakamasu has spent his first month visiting other site locations to meet with his new team. “I
am focusing on gaining a greater understanding of the Australian and New Zealand markets, consolidating the strategies we have put in place as well as looking for imaginative ways to tackle the challenges we face,” he said.

Panasonic Australia’s Reid picked for Europe promotion
Panasonic Australia’s director of consumer electronics, Paul Reid, has been promoted to a senior position within the company’s European operations.
Reid takes up his new post as managing director, Nordic Region, Panasonic Europe in July.
Steve Rust, managing director, said the move recognised Reid’s long contribution to Panasonic Australia. “Paul has been a wonderful contributor to Panasonic Australia, leading his team through many years of growth, achievement and market share improvement in most consumer categories.”
Reid joined Panasonic Australia in 2004 and during his time has seen success in categories such as plasma televisions, digital cameras and other home entertainment products.
“I’m very excited about the
opportunities within the Nordic region and look forward to maintaining close personal and professional relationships with the team in Australia.”
Assuming Reid’s responsibilities will be the newly created Consumer Leadership Group – consisting of three executives within the business: Richard Tassone (general manager, product marketing), Steve Sutherland (national sales operations manager) and Grant Sforcina (national channel sales manager).
“The three members of the Consumer Leadership Group have more than 50 years of industry and Panasonic experience and a deep understanding of Australian consumers and our retail environment,” Steve Rust said. “We’re delighted to usher in a new generation of leaders.”
Brumby to COO at Ansadara
Virtual data room provider Ansarada has appointed Nathan Brumby as chief operating officer. Brumby joins the Sydney head office where
he will be focusing on research and development, product strategy and service delivery.
As an international software expert Brumby’s previous roles include
senior director of product strategy and management at VMWare and managing director of the sub company Infra. “I was attracted to Ansarada as one of the fastest growing global SaaS companies in Australia,” he said.

Equinix saddles up sales boss
Equinix, a provider of global data centre services, has appointed Todd Handcock as chief marketing officer and vice president of marketing and strategy for Asia Pacific.
Handcock joins from British Telecom where he was most vice president of Asia Pacific Business Transformation.
Handcock will lead Equinix’s strategic planning and execution of the product and marketing roadmap in the Asia Pacific region.
