With technology general manager Michael Zuppa
What security products and attached services do you specialise in?
As a partner of Mimecast, recognised for its email cyber resilience, BlueApache offers its customers compliant, secure, and always-on hosted email security, gateway and firewall security, advanced endpoint security, ISMS frameworks gap analysis, managed threat detection and response, as well as remediation services.
When did your company first get involved in this area?
BlueApache was established in 1998 as a facilities management organisation, providing managed IT services for small to medium-sized enterprises. Security has always underpinned all of the services that we deliver, however, as a result of increased market demand over the last three years, we have moved towards providing a more comprehensive security practice.
What are your security credentials?
In addition to aligning with the industry managed service vendor certifications, BlueApache also holds Palo Alto Networks and Cisco Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) cybersecurity credentials, as well as being ISO/IEC 27001 certified.
Which distributors do you use?
Primarily Dicker Data to support our traditional product performance and service subscription. We also use Ingram Micro and rhipe for service subscription licensing.
Heard about any cool development in the security space recently?
The re-emergence of security incident and event management (SIEM). Next-gen SIEM offers managed detection response that harnesses supervised and un-supervised machine learning to provide a greater level of depth on the profile of the end-user or device, and alert on previously unseen anomalous behaviour.
Can you tell us about a recent security deployment you have done?
We completed a Mimecast deployment in the aged care sector, implementing next-gen firewall technology, advanced endpoint security and hardened security process and policies for identity access management. The customer has greatly reduced the threat attack surface, and improved security posture and traffic visibility.
What is driving customers’ security strategies?
Organisations, particularly those that are publicly funded, such as aged care providers and not-for-profits, are increasingly required to adhere to stricter and more stringent data security and privacy regulations, such as the NDB and GDPR. This is driving investment in security and conversations around incident response and threat protection.
Security is…?
A combination of people, processes and technology.
