Former Avaya boss Tony Simonsen has been appointed managing director of Polycom ANZ.
He replaces former vice president and managing director Paul Newell, who left Polycom in August to join Dimension Data as state manager for Western Australia.
Simonsen will be responsible for Polycom’s operational management as well as growing the Australian and New Zealand business.
Simonsen said: “I am very much looking forward to leading Polycom into a new era of providing human collaboration solutions that help our customers expand and grow their business."
Simonsen departed Avaya in July after just 16 months in the top job. Prior to joining Avaya, he was managing director of Equinix, overseeing the US$50 million expansion of its Sydney data centre and construction of its new facility in Melbourne.
He also had stints as director of global services at EMC, chief executive of Allied Technologies Australia and director of advanced services at Cisco.
Simonson was replaced at Avaya by Jeff Sheard, who joined the unified communications vendor 12 months ago as director of enterprise and government. Prior to Avaya, Sheard was sales director of the commercial and public sector for HP Australia.
