Brennan IT has awarded one of its customers $30,000 to fund a mobile workforce project.

Melbourne-based industrial equipment supplier Acrodyne won Brennan’s Innovation Lab challenge, announced in May, which asked customers to pitch ideas on modernising their business with IT.

Acrodyne had been allowing staff to access email as well as its SAP enterprise resource planning system from their tablets, but the mobile environment didn’t provide real-time access to the corporate system, while business intelligence reports couldn’t be generated on-demand.

“The word we got from regular feedback was that it was a bit ‘cumbersome’ or ‘clunky’ to get in and access documents,” said Acrodyne’s business services manager Andrew Leetch.

Acrodyne had already started upgrading the server hardware prior to joining Innovation Lab, and the win will provide the necessary funds to complete the project, said Leetch.

“It’s absolutely huge for us. Having access to this extra funding allows us to really finish the project properly, so rather than just getting hardware in place and leave it at that, we can actually spend time getting the most out of it.”

Brennan IT general manager Stephen Sims congratulated Acrodyne on the win, adding he was thrilled with the mid-market’s response to Innovation Lab.

“It was interesting to hear from the mid-market about what their business concerns are,” said Sims. “What we found was that growth efficiency and cost reduction initiatives are all equally important drivers for the mid-market, there seems to be a struggle between competing priorities.”
