Budget telco and energy provider Dodo has announced a new communications app that can be used for free calls like Skype, Whatsapp and FaceTime.
The Australian company is reselling Genband's white-labelled Fring "over-the-top" solution as the Dodo Phone Anywhere app.
The app is available on both iOS and Android, and allows free voice calls, messaging, video calls, teleconferencing and file sharing internationally with other users over a data connection.
Users can also make international calls to mobile and landline numbers at "very competitive rates", with charges added to their Dodo post-paid communications or energy bill.
"Now our customers can easily stay in touch with friends and family via voice, video and messaging without paying exorbitant fees, either at home or abroad," said Boris Rozenvasser, consumer director at Dodo's parent company M2.
