DNA Connect signs outdoor wi-fi vendor

DNA Connect has secured Australian distribution rights for wi-fi and networking vendor Aerohive.

"Aerohive with its ‘controller-less’ design is a clear innovator and this is what we look for in a vendor: innovation," said Munsoor Khan, executive director of DNA Connect.

Aerohive made headlines last month for launching a rugged outdoor high-speed wifi access point that withstands temperatures from -40C to 56C and up to 95 percent humidity.

The vendor's country manager, Peter Davison, is already seeing interest in the Australian channel.

"The [distribution] contract was only signed just prior to the Christmas break, and it’s already yielding. They’ll springboard us to doubling our revenue over the next 18 months," he said. “The controller-less wifi architecture is really growing in the market in leaps and bounds at the moment."

Khan said that Aerohive catalogue would open up "a new line of business for managed service providers".

"We’re already seeing traction with MSPs offering customers a fixed monthly price per access point with the MSP managing everything in the cloud... A great op-ex model."

In a statement, DNA Connect said that Aerohive's products would target the "education, healthcare, retail, manufacturing and enterprise" verticals in Australia.
