Dimension Data Australia has merged two business units and made two executive-level appointments.
The Communications and Customer Interactive Solutions groups have now merged, with Michael Slip promoted to become the general manager of the restructured Communications unit.
A Dimension Data spokesperson told CRN that the merger had taken effect on 1 November, with no change in head count. The general manager of the now-defunct Customer Interactive Solutions group, Robert Allman, has moved overseas.
"Rob relocated to the UK in September 2014 to take up the role of group communications principal director, contact centres," said the spokesperson.
Meanwhile, Paul O'Donohoe, the managing director of Gen-i - the Australian arm of Kiwi giant Spark Digital - has been recruited as DiData Australia's new general manager for networking.
"Paul is the perfect fit for the networking general manager role, given his strong record of inspirational leadership in his previous positions and his ability to execute a strategic vision," said Pete Murray, Dimension Data Australia’s director of business units.
O'Donohoe had served as the boss of Gen-i for almost two years immediately prior to the Dimension Data role. All up, he spent over 10 years at Gen-i.
Slip became GM of the Communications unit through an internal promotion. He was previously the Customer Interactive Solutions practice manager for northern Australia. He served stints with Telstra and Optus before joining DiData in 2007, according to LinkedIn.
"Michael is a highly regarded leader in the Dimension Data team, and his passion for the latest technology innovations and finding how they can be used to advance our clients’ business goals will be invaluable in the new Communications business unit," said Murray.
The recruitment news comes after CRN reported earlier this week the appointment of Steve Gunn as Dimension Data's ACT head.
