NEC Australia CTO departs
Tasso Mangos

NEC Australia's chief technology officer Tasso Mangos has left the company.

According to LinkedIn, Mangos held the dual role of CTO and executive general manager for product development and marketing at NEC. He departed in September and is now an independent consultant.

An NEC Australia spokesperson confirmed the departure, wishing Mangos "all the best in his future endeavours". She also said that the CTO position is currently vacant and there is no news yet on a replacement.

Immediately before NEC, Mangos was an enterprise IT architect with CSG and lead architect at Volante Systems.

He had not responded to CRN's request for comment at the time of writing.

CRN reported in July that NEC Australia had made a net loss of $22.3 million, intended to sell off its property assets, move its headquarters to the Melbourne CBD and potentially cut staff numbers.

Earlier this month, NEC Australia offloaded its Western Australian ERP operations to Scope Systems. NEC Australia was also one of the major creditors left out of pocket by the collapse of CPS Technology Group. NEC forced CPSTG's NSW arm to liquidate and had $320,000 owing by the main company.

The local arm of the Japanese company - traditionally known as a vendor - has transformed into an integrator, winning big deals with Department of Defence and South Australia government this year.
