Govt's cloud panel breaks 100 barrier

The Federal government has announced 24 new suppliers to its Data Centre-as-a-Service (DCaaS) multi-use list.

This brings the total number of suppliers on the whole-of-government agreement to 104 companies offering more than 1,500 "cloud or cloud-like services".

The list has progressively increased in size since it was launched by the Department of Finance in October 2012.

Tranche 7 marks the biggest jump in supplier numbers since the first batch of 35 cloud players was announced when the list debuted back in October 2012.

Seven suppliers were added in December 2013, with a further seven announced February 2014.

According to a blog post on the department website, "Tranche 7 is the final assessment tranche for the DCaaS MUL; no further application will be accepted."

The multi-use arrangement is due to expire on 30 October 2014, with prospective suppliers told to register with AusTender to receive updates.
