Sydney reseller targets 60 per cent growth
Tecala managing director Pieter DeGunst.

Sydney-based reseller Tecala Group is on track for 63 percent revenue growth this year as it bolsters its management team with two new general managers and a new role for its founder.

Tecala has created two new general manager positions – Scott O'Hara was appointed GM of sales and marketing in December, while a new GM of service delivery recently signed with the name currently under wraps. Both roles report to managing director Pieter DeGunst.

Former CEO and company founder Gleuto Serafim has now shifted to a full-time "chief technology evangelist" role, driving customer engagement.

Tecala is hiring across all levels to meet increasing customer demand.

"We're taking on 25 to 30 new customers per month at the moment," DeGunst told CRN. "We've been hiring but we're still hunting for ten more people,"

The company, previously with a sole office in Sydney, opened new branches in Melbourne, Perth, Newcastle, Brisbane and Darwin in September.

As well as recruiting, Tecala is aspiring to infrastructure nodes in every capital.

The EMC, Cisco, VMWare and Interactive Intelligence partner has focused on managed cloud services the past two years, and that strategy has necessitated local data centres. Adding to their "traditional" sites in Sydney and Melbourne, Brisbane is now live, with Darwin and Perth to come this year.

"Desktop-as-a-service and Microsoft Lync are both in demand," DeGunst said. "And they both have high-performance, low-latency requirements that call for local data centres."

Private cloud and virtualised infrastructure has traditionally been Tecala's bread-and-butter but the recent diversification to managed cloud platforms has seen a boom in revenue.

"We're expecting a minimum of 50 percent growth in revenue this year," said DeGunst. "We provide a one-stop shop for cloud services, and customers have been seeking those services out."
