Queensland regional managed service provider Downs Microsystems (DMS) has solved its biggest commercial logjam: the time it was taking to onboard new customers.
The answer is HP's Cloud System Matrix; where previously it was taking up to two to three days, the new solution has reduced the turnaround to as little as 20 minutes, said DMS national business development manager Ian Hurley.
"Managed services is all about automating everything and making sure everything is managed from start to finish at a fixed cost."
DMS is the first Queensland partner for HP's Cloud System Matrix, said Hurley. "We worked with HP during last year, getting provisioned and we are going live next month [February]."
Cloud System Matrix is designed for infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) for private and hybrid cloud environments. It includes a self-service portal for quick auto-provisioning.
The HP solution has built-in lifecycle management to optimise infrastructure, manage the resource pools and help ensure uptime according to Hurley.
"HP Cloud System Matrix provides cloud-bursting capabilities to a variety of public cloud providers including HP Cloud Services," said Hurley.
He said another major advantage was the impact on lifetime systems costs; total cost of ownership can be reduced by up to 43 percent.
"For DMS, it is a solution that will round out our technology stack to further automate our managed service platform. Customers are looking to DMS for IaaS and cloud solutions and the cloud system enables us to rapidly onboard businesses because of its incredible provisioning abilities."
In 2013, DMS merged with Sydney-based VTS IT in a deal reportedly worth between $1-1.5 million.
