Aussie satellite company NewSat has signed $5 million in deals to provide satellite communications across the Middle East and Australasia.
One deal potentially worth $2.4 million will see the Melbourne-based company support the US Department of Defense.
Under this agreement NewSat will act as a subcontractor to a US government systems integrator providing communications in the PACOM region. This deal has an undisclosed base period with four one-year renewal options.
A second deal valued at $2.1 million will see the company provide satellite communications to US government personnel stationed in the Middle East.
NewSat chief executive Adrian Ballintine said: "Supporting US government agencies in the harsh and remote Middle Eastern region is testament to our ability to provide secure services and quality support in a mission critical environment."
NewSat also announced it has signed "multiple new contracts with systems integrators" to provide satellite communications to mining, oil, gas and construction customers across Australia and Papua New Guinea.
"We are also pleased to see a significant increase in confidence in the Australian market, through a positive rebound in the number of new resource related projects and expansions on the horizon," Ballintine said.
"This has resulted in some new contracts and a healthy sales pipeline for the future."
NewSat declared $39 million in revenue for FY13, up 5 percent, while its $12.1 million EBIDTA was an increase of 211 percent compared with the year before.
