IT services provider ASG has signed an $11.5m agreement with the Victorian government's Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI).
ASG will modernise the department's existing ERP platform by transitioning it to a consumption-based model, deployed on ASG's local cloud data centre.
Managing director Geoff Lewis told CRN that ASG spent 12 months contending for the contract, which centres on a consumption model that ASG has dubbed 'New World' computing.
"This contract we've been working through for 12 months. In this case there was obviously new ground to cover with the structure of the contract."
ASG had to fend off competition from a number of "larger multinational competitors".

In under four months, the 'New World' computing model has driven $97.5 million in new contract deals – from both private and public sectors. Lewis credited the company's past acquisitions and its consumption-based offering for the recent influx of business.
"We acquired companies that would help us strategically in this area. We spent $10 million building this New World capability and acquired business analytics software because the world is going to these utility based models."
The deal builds on $86 million of work signed by ASG in the past four months.
Deals include a multimillion deal with Main Roads Western Australia, a long-term deal with engineering firm Clough, a five-year $11.3 million deal with the WA Department of Housing and a five-year $14.8 million contract with the WA Department of Education.
