Commulynx buys out rival

Systems integrator Commulynx has acquired solutions provider Prodigi in a majority equity deal designed to boost its SMB offering.

The Prodigi business will be integrated into Commulynx with the company’s SMB client relationships to be run by Prodigi boss Broderick Smith.

Prodigi at the time of acquisition had Smith as its sole full-time staffer alongside a long list of contractors, some of whom Commulynx would look to bring on full-time.

Commulynx managing director Stephen Knights told CRN he had been attracted to Prodigi’s quality of customer service and focus on SMBs.

“Our focus tends to be on [mid-sized] to enterprise [customers],” Knights said.

“We liked [Prodigi's] customer relationships, extra complementary services such as web services, and consulting services to SMBs. We also do that but they seem to do it a bit better.”

Prodigi's Smith said all of his 300 clients would be brought across in the merger.

Commulynx has 15 full-time staff on its books and a client base of about 200 customers. Knights said he would classify 50 of those clients as active on a month-to-month basis.

The company works with vendors such as Dell, Apple, Microsoft, Ruckus Wireless, Cisco, and Juniper as well as Websense, with which it is a gold partner.

Knights declined to comment on the cash value involved in the majority equity deal.

The systems integrator is a triple entrant to the CRN Fast50. It recorded 13 percent growth in sales in 2011 to $1.7 million.
